Bar cart makeover: they see me rollin’

This summer in preparation for my new apartment space I scoured Craigslist for some hidden treasures to fill my place. If you recall my 5 necessities for my new apartment, I was drawn to a vintage bar cart set up like the ones below on Pinterest.

After weeks of combing through sketchy Craigslist furniture postings, a miracle happened. I found the perfect cart! She was a beauty, located in Rockville, and only $50! I was emailing the seller before I could even start dreaming up different arrangements of bottles, flowers, candles, booze, etc.

As you can see, the cart was in need of some attention. You can’t tell from the picture, but it’s a great quality cart. Unfortunately the 2 glass shelves were missing and while the body of the cart was bronze, it was starting to rust. So after some bronzing polish and a stop at Columbia Mirror & Glass for two custom new glass shelves, she was already in better shape!

I’m struggling with how to best utilize the cart’s space and how use it for storage while keeping it styled pretty, so it’s still not figured out 100% quite yet. I’ve already changed things on the cart a few times.

I lined the bottom shelf with a Paris map sheet from Paper Source, topped the shelf with succulents and my favorite candle,  and lots of my go-to cookbooks. Unfortunately it’s a little overwhelming how my glassware takes over. I’ll have to find my soup crocks, margarita glasses, and shot glasses a new home eventually. I love having the cart in the new place!

When I sent the picture to my mom, she says “Wow, that’s a great piece! Heirloom quality to give to your future kids!”. Ok mom… what kind of mother gives her children a BAR cart?

  1. This is a great find Morgan. I like how you lined the bottom with the Paris map, it’s very cute and I like it with all those glasses.
