You’ve Got Mail

My 9 to 5 job is within the wedding industry so it’s not abnormal to spend hours looking over invitation designs. So when something pops out to me as great design & a great user-friendly product, I have to stop and pay attention.

A few weeks back, I discovered Paperless Post, an innovative stationery website that allows you to pick your favorite designs to share with friends online or in a tangible print copy. Some of the designs are free, some require paid coins, but all of the cards have 1 thing in common: they’re beautiful.

paperless post, invitations, card, stationery, design, paper, online invite

Everything from save the dates to BBQ invites and get-well-soon wishes, Paperless Post has is all covered. And they’re all so creative and well-designed. I love graphic design and these pretty cards just make me smile.

Once I’d stumbled upon the site, all I wanted to do was dream up a dozen occasions to have friends over, just so I can send them an invitation – whether it’s in the form of snail mail or a Facebook event. I mean, just read over the invite for the “brew-lympics” party… “edible medals to be awarded in the following events: shotgunning, beerpong, flip cup.” Planning a summer brew-lympics now!

If you’d like to sign up for the site and view the hundreds of additional designs, check out PaperlessPost.com.

(No, this is not a sponsored post. Just found a site I loved & had to share it!)

Getting even more pinteresting

Because Pinterest will never cease to entertain me, here are a few of my personal favorite pins from the past few weeks:

  1. What to Wear notepad – I need want this to help me plan all of my packing for my upcoming vacation!
  2. Head scarf – I have a vintage head scarf I’ve been sporting on dirty-hair-running-errands-lazy days. Sam says I look like I Love Lucy, but I picture myself chic like this picture.
  3. Summer Sangria Recipe – This past weekend I made a variation of this recipe to share at our cook out, it was so light and summery!
  4. I Spy DIY Ombre Dress – My first thought when I saw this pin was “where in the world can I buy a white shirt-dress right this second?”
  5. Pink sofa – Perhaps it’s my recent sofa funk I was in, but I can’t help thinking this couch is to die for.
  6. Purple succulents – Don’t ask why, but I feel the need to start growing succulents of sorts. When I saw this purple hue of succulents, I thought these were so neat looking. Can you believe these bad boys were painted purple?

Obsessed: red lip stain

When I’m going out and don’t want to worry about my lip gloss color coming off with a simple sip of water or bite of dinner, I head for my thoughtfully selected lip color collection! I’m still in love with a bright red lip, and these 4 colors are my go-to products.

Open my purse at any time and your guaranteed to find at least one of these bad boys.

  • Forever 21 Lip Stick (cheetah print, upper left)
  • CoverGirl Natureluxe Gloss Balm: goes on like a chapstick with a hint of color
  • Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain: strong color, stays on for hours (use chapstick on lips first to smooth your lips first)
  • CoverGirl Outlast Lip Stain: bright color, stays on all day

Obsessed: Nail polish

Last month I read an article by the New York Times called What Nail Polish Sales Tell Us About the Economy.  It was definitely an interesting read! According to the article, as the economy goes down, nail polish sales go up. Likely because women are looking for inexpensive luxuries to give their style an update.

I couldn’t agree more. Nail polish is only a few dollars per bottle and once you paint your nails, the color stays on for a week or two. Which is why I love hoarding a ton of colors. Plus it is very easy and not as risky to test out new color trends.

As far as favorites, I’ve been a longtime fan of OPI and Essie polishes in terms of quality, but my favorite applicator brush is definitely by Sally Hansen.  In fact, my all-time favorite color is Sally Hansen’s Pat on the Black. Since highschool I’ve been using this color. It’s the perfect dark plum/burgundy color that almost appears black in some lighting. I’ve gone through two whole bottles of the stuff!

A few weeks back I headed over to Ulta to stock up and left the store with 7 new bottles of polish to add to my collection.

Here is a break down of the new color additions, in order from left to right:

  1. Ulta – Coral Chic
  2. Ulta – Pink-a-Boo
  3. Ulta – Smoke Screen (about to be my new nail color once I finish typing this!)
  4. OPI – San Tan-Tonio
  5. Essie – Carry On
  6. Revlon – Minted
  7. Sally Hansen – Thinking of Blue (appears darker in photo)

Now I’ve gotta go! These nails are going to paint themselves!

Obsessed: stripes

I’ve decided to run a series of a few posts on a few of my favorite things.

First up in my Obsessed posts, is my love for all thing stripes.

Hi, I’m Morgan, and I’m addicted to stripes.

I went back through my photos over the past year, and within 5 minutes I’ve found so many pictures of me striped up. A few years back I thought horizontal stripes widened the body and made you look heavier, but now I’ve got a real love for striping, especially the classic white and black mix. I’ll usually pair the stripes with a blazer or sweater to break up the bold graphics.

And because stripes transition into winter…

In December I bought this thick b&w striped J. Crew dress, for $88. And lucky me, I got it for an extra 30% off! I’ve already worn it several times, with a thick sweater, a scarf, and dark tights.

For Christmas I requested this wrap sweater in gray and white thick stripes from Old Navy. It’s off their website, so I found this image from Petite J.D.

And another in a thinner stripe, a more basic sweater from Old Navy. Still available to buy online – only $15 now!

This stripe thing might be a problem for me. Any day now someone may confuse me for a convict or a sailor…
